He smiled at her when she asked her question and she rolled her eyes at him again, she really wasn't sed to this. Yeah, she was pretty good looking according to most guys but as soon as she'd started talking to them they had just ditched her or made some sort of rude comment. One of the worst ones she'd heard was this guy that decided to yell at her (because the club was pretty loud at the time) 'You ain't no good for an f'in one night stand'. Now Owen was different, he actually showed interest in her. More than usual and it was kinda weirding her out a little that he was. She wasn't one of these girls who ate nothing because she thought she was fat and although she was pretty much a fitness freak, she only did it to stay at least a little healthy after some of the booze that gets poured down her throat sometimes. Jenni didn't have low self-esteem or think of herself in a low way at all. She just didn't get why people ever took an interest in her to begin with, and she really didn't get why Owen was still interested in her enough to ask her to dinner.
As she pulled away from him she could see the heat rising in his cheeks and she smiled at him; he still beat her to the catch though as he began to take her through the crowd of people. He stopped momentarily to get rid of a guys cigarette but started moving again quickly after that, it made her laugh how he was so upfront with people, he didn't seem to care that they could get seriously pissed off with him. "Go blow!" Jenni looked at the man as she was dragged past him, he seemed a bit too drunk to be able to even stand up properly so she snaked her foot out and caught his shin; as he crashed to the floor she laughed again.
Owen suddenly stopped in front of her and turned to look at her, she was pretty close to him because she hadn't wanted to get lost in the throng of the crowd, "What's wrong?" He seemed a little on edge for some reason, but they were quite close to the exit now, "The exit's right over there Owen..."

Owen opened the door of the club and it was down pouring like cats and dogs. The Torchwood member was staring at it. He felt Jenni close behind him. “I did not plan this,” he said to her. It was cold outside. The man walked to the pub because he was planning to be pissed and not drive drunk. He just realized how quickly he forgot.
“Stay here,” he told Jenni. There was one of those self-owned Taxi’s that was waiting on the side. Running through the rain, Owen caught the Taxi just as it almost drove off. “Yo! Open up!” he said, tapping on the passenger side. The Torchwood member was not getting drenched wet. It took few minutes Owen came running back to Jenni.
“Okay, I don’t have an umbrella, but we can leave by that or stay here,” he said to her. “It is your choice.”

Jenni grinned behind him as he caught the taxi, he obviously wasn't very happy with the rain; she on the other hand loved the rain and smiled as she stepped out and felt the drops on her skin. She slid on her black coat before she got soaking wet though and pulled it up over her head as Owen returned, looking slightly wet from the downpour, "Sure thing. I'll get in there; does seem a little better than walking all the way anyway. But if you were looking for a quick place to get to, my hotel is pretty much next door. We could stay in there till the rain calmed down a bit?" She thought for only a second, Jenni didn't like that hotel, and didn't like the thought of having to stay there for a second longer than she needed to. It was dank, pretty disgusting and the worst place she could possibly imagine to invite someone to. Having come to a hasty conclusion she grabbed Owen's arm and literally raced to the taxi.
Once inside she shut the door behind them both and looked at Owen, "Sorry, shouldn't have even thought about saying that. It's a crappy idea and I would definitely prefer not to go in there at all. Nevermind have to stay in the cheapest hotel there is." It took her a few more moments to realise that she still had her hand on his arm, not squeezing but just resting, as if she was making sure that he wasn't suddenly going to dissapear. Jenni removed it, "So where're we off to? Don't really know anywhere around here to be honest."

The hotel was a very shady place. Owen had gone there on few occasions or two, or three. That was a place he would not want to be at or be caught at. It was infested with scum. He was called a scum by some birds, but that place had REAL scum even the rats might think twice to bother the scums. He would swear he saw a pair of rats daring each other to go near a drunken bum. Neither went.
Jenni was one of those people who loved rain, Owen always hated rain. He hated nature. There are not many things he liked. It was as Jenni and Owen made the perfect odd couple. She was sexy being all wet. Jenni’s clothes sticking up against her body, her hair all wet and dripping water.
It was comforting to have Jenni’s hand on his arm. The touching of her hand on his arm was a welcome. The nicety, if you want to call it, being touch was something was reminding you are not alone. Of course, Owen never stopped and wondered about that. It was something he over look and took for granted. In the future he will learn he should enjoy those small things we over look in our life.
So where're we off to? Don't really know anywhere around here to be honest."
He had a nice view in his flat of the bay. She said she did not like the hotel she was staying. Turning to his wet female companion, Owen was trying to move a string of wet hair off her cheek. “How long are in Cardiff?” He adored her sharp angular cheek bones as his fingers brushed there. If he she allowed him, unless she pulled away.

Jennifer smiled at him again when they were sat in the cab together, her hair was damp but at least she wasn't thoroughly soaked through to the skin, "I'm in Cardiff for a little while. I don't exactly know how long to be honest; all I've been told is that I have to wait until the place I'm going to be working at in London is finished. They signed us on and the place hasn't even been built yet."
As he brushed his fingers gently across her skin her face tingled beneath his touch, the moisture on her face dripping onto his as he did so. Jenni could tell he wasn't one for the rain, he didn't seem to be the outdoors type either which amused her for some reason, "Do you not like the rain?" It was an obvious question but she asked anyway, she knew what the answer would be already but she just wanted to hear him say it. Jenni had had to get used to the rain during training; crawling through the thick mud and climbing slippy equipment in the downpour that usually graced the countryside with its presence, "I always find that it isn't the rain that's the problem, it's what comes with the rain."

The idea having Jenni come to his place would not be a wise choice because she would know where he lived and he would not want her drama. He could recon her, but it might have side effects. The snake mind of Owen was calculating where he could take her.
"Do you not like the rain?"
It was one of the habits women have. They like to ask questions. He wasn’t taking her to his flat because she might want to see him again. He was hungry and not in the mood to eat alone at home or he was not the mood to be alone in a restaurant. Owen was in the phase where needed a break from one night stand. Doing that everyday loses fun.
“Well, no,” he replied. He did not need to explain.
“Take us to Justice’s,” ordered the taxi driver.
“So, do you like the rain?” he asked, it was fair to ask her the same question. He would like to hear her talk. He was hoping she won't mind his hand was stroking her cheek. "You have beautiful bone structure."

Owen was starting to look a little confused as to where they were going to go, until he finally ordered the taxi driver to go to 'Justices's'. She wondered where that was; he still had his hand on her cheek as he asked her whether she liked the rain, "The rain..." Involuntarily, Jenni clenched her fists at her sides, but quickly unclenched them when she realised what she was doing, "You have to get used to it... It's refreshing... It makes you think about things that you remember, things that you want to find and things that aren't quite in your reach yet." Jenni was talking about Torchwood, how she had been looking for them for years before she was finally able to get into it herself and finally become a member, "I like it because when it rains, it is very peaceful. Nobody likes coming out in the rain, so I would just be alone. I like being alone, don't like getting into really serious relationships because usually they end up badly and to be honest, I am no longer bothered with actually trying."
Jennifer had had about 2 boyfriends in the past, they had treated her nice, made her a bit happier than usual but after a while, they never got on with her. The fights started and sometimes they got a bit violent, her last boyfriend (3 years ago) had thrown something heavy at her head and the next thing she knew, she was in hospital with a head injury. It had turned out to be a microwave; the guy went to jail for a bit, then dissapeared without a trace. Although Owen was a little different - she actually liked him - Jenni knew it would turn out the exact same way, so she couldn't care less if she was just another one night stand to him.

Owen would not throw things at a woman, it was the women who throw things at Owen. Like one time, PC Cooper thought it was cute when she threw the chisel at Owen and hit the hard casing that the sexual alien was in. Mind you, she could have hit Owen and killed him.
The night was going the wrong direction. It really was. The rain have change Owen’s plans. It was terrible because he quickly ordered the Taxi to take them to a restaurant, he have been before. He could not take Jenni to any of the locations he took Diane. God, he still missed her and wished stayed behind and stayed with him.
Diane was impatient. Owen was going to give everything she wanted. He was going to be the man that he was to his finance who died from the alien parasite that ate Katie’s brain.
Sadly, he wasn’t paying hundred percent to what Jenni was talking about, because mind did wonder what he was missing. He figured this was the one night he skip a one night stand. It will be one date with no strings attached.
As Jenni was talking about being left alone, he was listening because that heart of his was feeling sad for her. You the readers don’t tell Gwen because Owen would never hear the end of it. Owen might have to learn to throw microwaves at you lot.
Blinking his eyes, he was watching her and feeling sad for her. It was the weather affecting him. “Yea, being alone is good, but someone like you should have a man,..or at least have a dog at home who be glad to see you come home.”
Of course, the driver was driving through all this and was listening to every word because all Taxi drivers all loved the drama of other peoples’ lives.
She explained how she did not like long relationships. He could believe her but she was female. They say one thing and the next day they change their mind. Owen was not buying her confession because she was a woman and women are very emotional.
The taxi stopped, Owen quickly paid the man, he ran outside, hold the door for Jenni. Justice was a small cute pub that was ran by a Welsh family. Picture a family place where it was comfy.
When she did get out of the Taxi, Owen would toughen it up and walk her to the door and not leave her behind. Oh he would do that a heart beat on Toshiko and Gwen. He will be caught dead if he did that to Diane. Would he ever stop thinking about her?
An old Welsh red haired lady invited them to a small booth. “Lookee ye pretty couple. Sit warm up and let me get you hot tea…” she led them to a booth that was near a fire place. “Romance is medicine for this rain ,”she said as she walked away.
“Ma, leave them alone,” a male voice could be heard from the kitchen. “How you don’t you know those two are brother and sister?”
Owen took his jacket off, and hanged on the coat pole. He offered to take Jenni’s coat off too. Why was he being nice? Oh yea, he had a plan.
Occ: Sorry for the long reply. I could not sleep

As she talked, she had the sudden feeling that he was no longer listening to her; he porved her wrong though when he mentioned about having someone to come home too, someone that showed they were glad she was back. But with her job she couldn't really get an animal, sometimes she spent nights and days on the job, it tired her out, but at least it took her mind off of things. Like the fact that she didn't even have an pet to come home to, how she spent most of her nights alone, facing the same old routine. Jenni was already getting sick of the routine of the hotel, although no-one could blame her, the hotel was disgusting, "Cheap asses..." Jenni accidentally mumbled under her breath, "Sorry, didn't mean you Owen, was thinking about the people at work, the people who chose the hotel for me... They really piss me off sometimes."
Jenni sighed to herself, she was pretty bored most of the time and was confused as to where they were going and what they were doing. She was going with a stranger who felt familiar but she still didn't know who he was and he could be dragging her anywhere. When the taxi stopped, Jenni opened the door and got out, beating Owen to the catch, "So this is Justice."
The lady at the door was friendly and had a kind looking face, Jenni smiled at her but didn't say anything, prefering not to talk to her in case things went a little out of hand in here. It wasn't a pub, or a club, but anything could still happen. She gave her coat to Owen seen as he offered then took a seat and looked at him for a moment, he seemed a little more distant than before and she didn't know why, but it couldn't be anything good. Deciding to continue the conversation from the car to break the awkward silence Jenni smiled at him, "A dog? How long do you think it would survive given the hours I work?" Breathing slowly, she wondered about his past, his girlfriends and partners. He looked like a guy who had been together with quite a few people before, some serious, some not so. But it also looked like he had been hurt badly by one or more of these people in the past and because of that, he spent a lot of his time trying to dodge out of serious relationships, "So what about you then?"

“Me?” Owen asked. He knew she was interested in his past relationships. He was not willing to be open as her. Men are not easy open like women. Women wear their emotions on their sleeves.
The old lady came back to settle down the tea as Owen was leaning back in his chair getting comfortable. The old lady was mothering the tea for them. Owen was tapping his hand on his lap.
“Yea, no time for relationships,” he said, thinking he lied so bad she would not buy it. That was one thing Owen could not do. He could not lie if his life was on the line. He could not fool the guy of the Weevil combat. That was a botch. This was a botch.
He was sipping his tea as he was looking at her gorgeous eyes. She had beautiful eyes but he could not say anything. She did not want to go back to the motel. She hated it. He did not like a nice lady like her to be stuck in that crappy hotel. He could not let her stay at his flat because she will learn where he is living. And he did not want her looking for him when she wanted to see him.
He had a plan but it will wait. It will wait after when they eat or after they go for a walk because it stopped raining outside. He saw it from the window.
“I don’t want this night end,” he said to her. He meant it. It was quiet and relaxing. For a moment in his life, he wanted this peace. “Can we stop time?”

Jenni smiled at him, "Yeah, guess so." She knew that he was lying to her, hiding the truth just like she had when she was telling him about her past relationships. The truth was that she did care about the loneliness, she had no family to invite round to her apartment, nothing and noone to greet her when she got home and because of her job her social life and friends were more or less non-existant. Jenni had got herself into a boring routine that she found herself loathing, she wanted it to stop but at the same time she really didn't want to get into a relationship with anyone, it would just be troublesome in the end and probably would mean that either the guy or herself would get hurt. She had thought about telling this fact to Owen, about how bad her relationships with people really were, just so that he would leave her alone and not come chasing after her later, but in the end she decided to keep quiet about that too.
As he stared into her eyes she looked down at her cup of tea that the old woman had made for her, it looked hot and refreshing, just what was needed after the cold rain outside. She was already beginning to shiver and knew that it had been a bad idea to get herself so wet, but at the time she had enjoyed the moment of fresh clarity that the rain had given her. Taking a deep drink from the mug she thought about the way Owen was acting around her now, the way he seemed so distant; he was starting to confuse her with his talk of wanting time to stand still, if he wanted that then why was he distancing himself further, he was no longer interested in talking to her and was such a bad liar that she wondered why he had even bothered in the first place, "If you wish for things, it's only up to you to make them come true you know?"
Laughing Jenni put the cup down and leaned forward resting her chin on her hand which was propped on the table, she stopped laughing before she spoke, her voice turning calm and calculating, "You think I'm one of those girls don't you? One of those that says they're okay with a one night stand and then start stalking you for ages and won't leave you alone. That's why you took me here isn't it?" She sighed, now he was really starting to piss her off, the night might end with a fight after all, but it saddened her to think that's what he thought of her, was it just pity that he had took her here, because she was alone all the time and he knew it? "Do you really think I'm that pathetic and desperate?"

“No,” he replied. This date was going wrong. What was he thinking? Did he actually think he could get away with it?
“Look,” he titled his head to the side. “I am looking for a night where I can relax with a female companion with no strings attached.” His eyebrows are up giving him the sad dog look. “Can a guy around here have that?” he said, sipping his tea, he was looking at her over the rim of the mug.
“I give you a choice. You call the shots,” he said. He was looking outside. “It stopped raining. We can go for a walk or I take you back to you hotel.”

"Then why treat me that way?" Jenni was beginning to lose her patience with Owen, all he seemed to care about was making sure that everything went his way and he was now even pulling out the puppy dog eyes.
What he didn't seem t realise was that she also had her own cards to play with, she buried her head in her hands before slumping on the table a little, she looked devastated and sad and gave him her most upset look, her dripping hair just made it that much better, "You would send me back to that place? I've hardly got any sleep for the last couple of nights coz of that shit hole." She sighed and looked down at the table, "and what would we do after the walk? Go back to the hotel? You don't seem to have thought this whole 'no strings attached' thing through." Unlike Owen, Jenni was actually a very good liar and when she wanted to, she could really get into people's heads sometimes.

Owen was watching her. His heart sunk when she was playing the sad victim female. He had not planned to break her heart and he did not want to send her back the hell hole. He wanted to get up and run away from her. He did not realized Jenni had him wrapped around her finger.
It was late at night. Getting another hotel room for her would be the ideal thing to do. She paid for his drinks and he wanted to pay for her drink.
“How is this,” he said, offering a better deal. “We finish here. We go for a walk. We find a better hotel for you. And I will pay and buy a few nights for you.” This sounded a better deal and she would be safe. “Don’t you open that mouth and say you pay for it. Allow me be a gentleman here and be sure a female is safe.”

Still keeping the act, Jenni peeked at him and knew that her acting had gotten through to him, he was feeling sorry for her and wanted to help. But she didn't realise what he was offering until he said it, "You want to pay for a hotel room for me? Why would you do that for me?" She was a little taken aback at his reaction but still managed to keep the look going somehow, "And no, I'm not going to let you be the gentleman, I can't let you pay for the hotel for me." Jenni managed to keep it covered that she also thought this was his little way of paying for a one-night stand with no strings attached, she knew it would be no good to et angry at this fact because she also knew that he could be offering her this because he felt sorry for her and wanted her to be at least a little happy. Jenni was still stuck on the question, "Why would you do this?" though.
Taking another drink from her cup of tea, she felt as though she needed something stronger; Jenni had been thinking that he would offer to let her stay at his for the night and then the next night she would have gone back to the shit hole and that would have been fine with her. She had definitely not been expecting for him to offer her a hotel room that he would pay for himself and then she would stay there for a few nights; she really didn't feel okay with that, "Is this because I paid for your drink or what?"
