Stumbling a little, Evie ended up leaning lightly on one of the outside coffee tables. Her whole side would be black and blue, this she knew from experience. Shed have to replace her black top. Though the blood couldn't be seen, if one were to look close enough, theyd notice the slash marks in the fabric. It didn't concern her too much though, she'd heal quickly enough. No, what concerned her was that she'd had no transmission from her team in the other dimension where she'd been forced to leave them. That in itself, was not a good indication of things.
Shaking her head, she made her way into the small cafe, thankful that there was no one waiting. Placing her order, she waited in silence before taking her cup of tea and her rich chocolate brownie and making her way back to the outside tables. Sitting down, she lifted her hands to take hold of her hot cup, before noticing the slightly odd angle that her right pinkie finger was bent at.
Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, she noted that she had quite a few aches and pains. Resting her injured hand in her lap, she used her left hand to sip at her hot tea. Her latest search for something to help her build a makeshift Rift manipulator had taken a nose dive, instead causing a small group of Weevils to be attracted to her out of the way location in one of the many old abandoned warehouses.
She had to admit, that when she'd finally shut of the blasted machine, she had had a slightly fun time in noting that the Weevils had become confused as to what had drawn them. When they'd noticed her though, her own amusement had fled and she'd ended up having to fight to escape her own mauling. She hadn't killed any of them, had even taken quite a few hits herself. It was only when her darker side had had enough of getting the crap beaten out of her that the Weevils had actually paused in their attack.
Watching them flee had brought home the fact that Evie was one in a gazillion, as she'd been told enough times by her family. The very thought of them brought a frown to her face and she replaced her cup on the table to begin picking at her brownie. Sitting where she was, she could look out over the bay and almost loose herself in different memories.
The sudden vibrating of her cell phone made her jump, and with a soft chuckle at her own edginess, she pulled the phone out of the inner pocket of her dark blue denim jacket. The relief she felt at seeign the familiar number was undescribable. She looked around quickly to make sure no one was watching her. With the connection between two dimensions, the cell phone would always read as rift activity, though she doubted anyone would be the wiser around here.
A soft smile touched her lips as she read the text: 'Safe and sound'.
