PB + Image: Famke Janssen
Personality [include strengths and weaknesses. Detail required]:
Evie is very easy going, sometimes to the point where it may look as though she doesn't care. That's far from the case though, as her natural empathy for others can sometimes overwhelm her. She can be fiercely protective to those who have earned her trust and loyalty, as well as sympathetic and understanding to those who need it. However she can be cunning and ruthless with a calculated coldness when she needs to be.
Like anyone, Evie has her own weaknesses. She's terrified of small cramped spaces and the dark, though she can cope at night time, it's pitch black rooms that can cause her to freeze. She'd do anything to keep the people she cares about safe, even if it means taking their place should they be in danger as those are the times that her emotions get the better of her.
Personal History [brief outline]:
Born to parents Maya and Steffan Knight, she was the eldest of six siblings, with three younger brothers and two younger sisters. As with any of the Knight children, she was loved and guided through life, learning the rights and wrongs and learning from her mistake and the mistakes of others. Working hard she passed through school and college and just scraped through university.
Things looked set to be going well, having just received confirmation of a job in Ireland, she was all ready to take a step forward into a new life. It all came crashing down around her though, when one fateful night ended with the death of her entire family and almost killing her in the process. Her first contact with an alien had been in the form of a mercenary hunter, highly paid for the annihilation of her entire blood line due to her Tou'cott ancestor. She had arrived at her parents house late that night to celebrate with her family and had walked into the middle of a blood bath.
Her family dead and their killer turning on her, she was forced to defend herself, using the dormant alien heritage and literally thinking him to explode, killing the creature in turn. It was only after things had settled down and she was at home recovering that Torchwood Four contacted her. They questioned her on what had happened, but she could remember very little and almost nothing about the actual creature that she'd killed. In the end, she moved to Ireland and began a new life working for Torchwood Four where she refined her skills.
Several years passed and over that time she'd moved up the ranks, becoming second in command of Torchwood Four. She was often sent on visits to Torchwood One, her security clearance the same level as any Torchwood leader. Unfortunately tragedy struck once again in the form of the 'Ghost Shifts' caused by Torchwood One. Finding herself and her team surrounded by Cybermen, she could only watch, helpless as her boss was murdered in front of her. It released the memories of her family's death and with it, the truth of her birthright.
Trapped in the centre of another massacre, Evie managed to 'phase' the entire team and building of Torchwood Four into another dimension using their own Rift manipulator, effectively causing Torchwood Four to go 'missing', while the Cybermen decayed and turned to dust in front of her eyes.
Now left with being the leader of the missing Torchwood branch, Evie and her team worked hard to limit what was going through the Rift in her world's Cardiff. With new technology to enable communication throughout universes and time, she often followed those that Torchwood Four were unable to prevent from crossing through the Rift. It was this latest mission though, during the reversal of a paradox, that has caused her to be trapped back in her own world and only able to communicate via mobile phone and a Torchwood issued comm-link ear piece. Though still able to travel through time and space with with the technology that brought her here, she has yet to find a way to get back to her team. Though she knows that it's impossible now, she will never give up hope.
Scenario #1 [response must be 100+ words. Be creative.]:
Your character has just been sitting at a cafe, when a passer-by accidentally spills coffee all over their lap. What happens afterwards?
Giving the passer-by a fake smile, which was probably growing more fake by the minute, Evie waved aside their apologies, telling them it was a simple accident and it happened. She doesn't move an inch in her seat, the hot liquid burning through her jeans was slowly growing cold. Waiting for the fellow to leave, she very carefully stands and then casually makes her way to the ladies toilets. Once the door closed behind her, she can't contain her self any more. Cursing like a sailor she dances from one foot to the other as she quickly strips off her jeans. It's only when she's holding them beneath the dryer and a waitress walks in that she realises what an idiot she probably looks like. Giving the woman an embarrassed smile she says the only thing that springs to mind. “Can I have a side order of onion rings with my burger please?
Scenario #2 [response must be 100+ words. Be creative.]:
Your character is walking down the street on a normal day when a stranger approaches them and tells them that they know what Torchwood is and what it does. Your character brushes this off with feigned confusion and ignorance but the stranger persists to an almost unnerving degree. How does your character react?
Finally coming to a halt Evie sighed, long and hard, before turning around to face idiot that just wouldn't leave her alone. Shoving her hands into the pockets of her jacket to stop herself from throttling him, she didn't hide her irritation when she spoke. “Look, just forget it. Forget it all. Go home to your family, kiss your wife, read your kids a story if you have any kids, and just enjoy the life that you've got. I'm giving you a chance here and you're lucky it's me you've been bothering, because this'll be your only chance.” She injected a cold edge into her voice as she stepped towards him. “Carry on as you are and I'll make you forget. I'll wipe your memories so far back you'll have to learn to walk and talk again.” With a slight shake of her head, she softened a little. “Go home and enjoy what you've got. I'd hate to have to take it all away.”
