Rose is, in general, a very warm and friendly person. She tends to feel everything strongly, both good and bad. Rose deeper personality showed during her travels with the Doctor. She wasn't the kind of person who was going to be content going back to her safe life as a shop-girl. She discovered that she was brave, and quite clever.
Rose doesn't always think things through, which tends to lead to things like her hanging from a barrage ballon during the blitz. She's also head strong, and doesn't like taking no for an answer. Rose is a caring person, and always makes an effort to help the people she runs into during her travels.
Being stuck in the alternate universe a more sober person. She's grown up a lot during her months of separation from the Doctor, although she still has her innate sense of adventure.
Personal History [if known, brief outline]: Rose was living with her mum and working in a shop before the Doctor came along. Offered the opportunity to travel through time and space, Rose couldn't turn it down, even if it meant leaving her friends and her mum behind.
Rose got in and out of all sorts of trouble while traveling with the Doctor. She grew very close to him, and when he sent her home to keep her safe from the Daleks, she came after him, eventually taking the Time Vortex into herself to destroy the Daleks and save her friends.
Rose was devastated when the Doctor regenerated. It took her a sometime to come to terms with the fact that this new man was actually the same person she knew before. Eventually though, she came around, and grew closer to the Doctor then ever.
Rose had no plans to ever go back to her old life. She wanted to stay with the Doctor forever. Sadly, fate had other plans. In a battle with the Daleks and the Cybermen, Rose was pulled into an alternate universe by that universe's version of Pete Tyler, her father.
Separated from the Doctor seemingly forever, Rose got to speak to him once last time, telling her that she loved him. He seemed prepared to do the same, when they were cut off. He told her to live a good, full life and Rose has tried to do that.
Unable to go back to living a normal kind of life, Rose began working for the alt universe's version of Torchwood.
Scenario #1 [response must be 150+ words. Be creative.]:
Your character has just been sitting at a cafe, when a passer-by accidentally spills coffee all over their lap. What happens afterwards?
Rose gasped and jumped to her feet as the dark, hot liquid hit her lap and began running down her legs. "Ow! God, that's hot."
The gentleman responsible for the incident simply muttered an apology and continued on his way.
"Oi!" Rose hollered after him. "You can't just spill coffee on someone and walk away!" She started after him for a moment, calling after him again, but the man had already slipped through the door and disappeared into the street.
Rose sat down grumpily and looked across Mickey.
"Is it just me or are people in this universe a lot ruder than in ours?"
Mickey grinned and shook his head. "I don't think it's the universe, Rose. I think it's just London."
Rose glared. "No, it's definitely the universe." And that's just one in a long list of reasons I'm going to find a way to get home, she thought to herself.
Scenario #2 [response must be 150+ words. Be creative and detailed.]:
Your character is walking down the street on a normal day when a stranger approaches them and tells them that they know what Torchwood is and what it does. Your character brushes this off with feigned confusion and ignorance but the stranger persists to an almost unnerving degree. How does your character react?
"I know who you are. And I know what you do."
Rose's eyes widened as she looked at the young woman in front of her. She quickly masked her surprise into a look of confusion. "I'm sorry?"
"Torchwood," the woman said simply.
"I've got no idea what your talking about," Rose lied. She tried to push past the woman, but she stepped in front of her once again, grabbing Rose's arm this time.
"Hey!" Rose exclaimed, wrenching her arm free. "I told you, I don't know what you're on about."
"You don't need to lie. I know you work for Torchwood. I also know you don't belong here, Rose Tyler."
This time Rose couldn't hide her surprise. She opened her mouth to form a response, but the woman cut her off, pressing something into her hand.
"You'll need this." The girl turned and walked away.
Rose was stunned for a moment, then hurried after her. She pushed her way through the crowd, but couldn't see her anywhere. It's like she had just disappeared.
She looked down at the thing the girl had handed her. It was some sort of metal and about the size of an apple. There were some sort of figures scratched into it, but not in any sort of language Rose recognized.
She looked at it for a moment longer before stuffing it in her pocket. Hopefully someone at Torchwood would be able to figure it out.
