Hopefully all of you understand that rules are important. They're not there so that you can break them, and they're not there because your mod is a control freak NO, REALLY, I'M NOT!. They're there so that the forum doesn't fall apart. Respect the rules and everyone else will respect you.
GENERAL RULES
1. Please, listen to the staff. We are not here to bite or oppress you. We are here to work with you and make this game run smoothly. So, listen when we tell you something, or we will be forced to break out our modly stompin' boots, and we don't like having to do that.
We are also here to help. Please speak to the staff as well! Suggestions, questions and comments are welcome on how to make improvements to the game/boards and its running, as long as it is done in a respectful manner. In addition, any drama or other trouble that is occurring should be brought to the attention of the staff directly via PM.
2. Anyone who signs up on this forum is expected to be fluent in English, and literate. That means that this is an English language game. Game play takes place in English, so if you are not a native English speaker (and/or don't have a good grasp of the English language) you might want to reconsider applying here. While we're willing to help new roleplayers get better we are not looking to be English teachers.
3. Be Friendly and/or Respectful to your fellow players. Whether in the OOC section or on the C-box, there will be no drama, name calling, fighting, or disrespect tolerated. Please also remember that IC=/=OOC, Just because your characters don't get along does not mean that you should hate each other too. Also, remember that making friends is not a bad thing.
4. Absolutely no godmodding or powerplaying. AT ALL. Anyone who does this risks being banned from the board with no warning and no second chance. Play realistically. Your characters are people and should react like people (unless they're robots).
This also means that you are not allowed to kill off characters, including your own, without the express permission of the player and the staff.
If you have a major plot or storyline idea please run it by the staff before starting to play it. We like surprises, but not unexpected ones which seriously influence the storyline/plot of the community.
5. We do NOT allow Mary Sue or Gary Stu here. Your original characters should be balanced, realistic for the genre, multi-dimensional and interesting. They should not be flat, perfect, all powerful and/or boring.
6. Canon characters should be in character, please keep them as close to the characters we know and love as possible. This is not to say that you can't have the character develop over time into something more, or different than they are, but those changes should be shown AND VALIDLY EXPLAINED over the course of the RP. If the staff feel that a canon character is being played OOC, you will receive a PM about it, if it continues, you risk having your canon taken away.
7. We are slash, het, swearing, etc. friendly. However, in keeping with the Proboards TOS all posts must remain in the PG-13 Realm. We are not a smut board. We would like you to keep swearing to a minimum.
If you go above the stated rating, you will be warned, if it then continues, you will be removed. Posting overly adult themed material puts the board at risk of deletion and I WILL NOT ALLOW THAT. Seriously, just don't do it here, if you just MUST play out those things take it to your personal e-mail or IM.
8. No advertising of anything is to go on within these boards outside of the advertising section. If you want to advertise, that is where you put it. If you advertise anywhere else (this includes in your signature) it will be deleted and you may be banned from advertising, even in the advert section, in future.
9. Make sure you know the rules. You are not expected to memorize every detail, but you are expected to know the basics. It is expected that you read all of them and that you abide by them. Minor slip-ups are okay. Blatantly ignoring the rules is not.
POSTING/THREADING RULES
As the title suggests, here are your posting rules. Heed them, and follow them well.
1. Active thread limit; There is a limit of 5 active scene threads per character. Thread limit applies to IN CHARACTER scenes [this limit does not include things in the IMs, phone calls, journals or any webpages/social networking sections].
2. Threads should contain a title of some sort (even if it's vague)
3. Scene/Thread/Post Header. This header is required in the first post of ALL new scene threads. This will help everyone in the thread to know necessary details about the thread they are about to enter, as well as help with theard tracker(s) should they become necessary.
Header applies to IN CHARACTER scenes [this does not include things in the IMs, phone calls, journals or any webpages/social networking sections].
4. Please make an effort to keep track of what threads fall where in the time line. When mentioning an event or character please make sure that event has happened, etc. We just want to avoid any plot holes and confusion. If we see any issues beginning with this we may institute a mandatory thread tracker.
Time travelers CAN have threads taking place adjacently (i.e the Doctor and Rose could be in London saving the world while at the same time, their past or future selves could be having dinner in Cardiff) just remember the first rule of time travel DON'T TOUCH THE BABY!... no wait, that's not it... don't cross your own time line. We don't want the reapers coming to eat the board! If you have adjacent threads just make sure this is noted some how in the header.
5. This is a roleplaying site. Unless you are posting on the OOC discussion boards, everything is considered IC. If you need to communicate with other players OOC, use brackets and indicate that you are not speaking in character: (), (()), [], [[]], {}, <>
6. Posts should be at least one solid paragraph in length. If there's nothing to write about, elaborate on thoughts and setting detail etc. it doesn't matter. One-liners are not acceptable.
7. Spelling, punctuation and grammar are important. Netspeak is not permitted at any time (unless you're being funny on the OOC forum, and even then...). Nobody likes reading posts dat sound lyk dis nd r 2 annoyin 2 reed~ Anybody who does this will be warned and then banned.
Give your posts the once-over proof-read before hitting the post button. You should also use a spell-checker (Mozilla Firefox has one built in, just so you know).
8. All role playing takes place in third person and posts should be written as such. That means use the pronouns he, she, they, it and not I or we. If you still have questions on what this means read over some of the posts.
9. If you intend your thread to be for a particular character, please state so in the title. I.E. "Coming home - {Ianto}"
10. Please follow the permanent posting order which has been set up. More information about this can be found here.
11. Activity is important! Admin and Moderators do pay attention to activity. We hold activity checks every so often. Should you miss an activity check you, and your character(s), will be placed on the inactive list and you will be sent a PM and E-mail requesting an update to your whereabouts and interest. If you miss 2 activity checks in a row you and your character(s) will be removed from the game and any canon characters you had will be placed back on the open list for someone else to apply for.
